From the bride:
1732. That is the number of days that i’ve been blessed to call you my girlfriend and fiancee. As grateful as i am to be able to call you that, i am so thrilled that that number is not 1733. Instead I get to say that it is day 1 of the rest of my life.
June 13th was the most perfect day by our standards, and my husband could not have summed up our emotions better for that day and our future.
So much planning went into every detail of the day, and we were bladed enough to have amazing vendors that cared just as much as we did about making it perfect. We were both born and raised in the Bluegrass so our love for all things Blue and Kentucky were the driving force behind planning our wedding day. From babies breath bouquets and boutonnieres, to bourbon barrels and burlap, everything was Southern and Kentucky.
Many sentimental details were incorporated into the day that may not have been easily spotted, but made the day extra meaningful to us. I wore my late grandmother’s pearl necklace and earrings as my something old. The dress our flower girl wore was mine when i was little. We placed pictures of our grandparents that had passed about in the seats they would have sat in at our ceremony so that they could experience the day with us. Maker’s Mark bottles were used as centerpieces since that was how Stephen proposed, and we used a bourbon barrel as our guestbook. Each of these things made our day even more special.
Our ceremony was very personal and heartfelt. A perfect representation of the love and friendship between us and our families. Following our ceremony, guests were able to enjoy a quick cocktail hour as they found their seating assignments and snacked on popcorn from the popcorn bar. They enjoyed a few “grinning grooms” or “blushing bride” cocktails to toast to the new Mr. and Mrs Obst!
Kenny Saunter of Masters of Music could not have done a better job as our DJ. The dance floor stayed full the entire night and all of our guests ( us included ) were sad when the night ended all too quickly.
Our night was brought to a close with a sparkler exit down the stairs of Mellwood Art Center, and was the perfect end to the perfect day!
